314 new Covid-19 cases surface in Afghanistan

At least 314 new positive Covid-19 cases were detected in different parts of the country in the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s overall tally to 33,908.

A statement from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said 716 individuals underwent testing during the period and 314 of them were diagnosed positive.

Kabul recorded 89 new cases while Daikundi saw 71 more infections. At least 46 fresh cases were registered in Bayman, 36 in Herat, 15 in Takhar, 11 in Ghazni, 10 in Baghlan, nine in Balkh, six each in Laghman and Panjsher, four in Nimroz and three in Paktia, two each in Kandahar, Paran, MaidanWardak and Ghor.

At least 20 people lost their lives to the pandemic and 141 others recovered from it in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths thus reached 957. As many as 20,841 people have recovered from the disease so far.

The Ministry of Public Health has once again called on the Afghan people to follow the instructions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country.
