As many as 110 individuals have tested positive for coronavirus in Afghanistan in the e past 24 hours, taking the nation’s tally to 1,939, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said on Wednesday.
Dr. Wahidullah Mayar, spokesman for the ministry, told a media briefing here that 58 Afghan citizens, including four doctors, had lost their life to the pandemic while 228 Afghans recovering from it so far.
The new cases have surfaced in, Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, Ghazni, Nangarhar, Laghman, Takhar, Farah, Helmand and Kunduz provinces.
The official said 58 of the fresh cases were detected in capital Kabul, 15 in Kandahar, 12 in Paktia, six in Ghazni, five each in Nangarhar and Kunar and three each in Takhar and Farah, two in Helmand and one in Kunduz.
Mayar asked the people to pay greater attention to adopting preventive measures and practicing the guidelines offered by the ministry. There is no vaccine yet to cure the virus.
Of the 1,939 cases in Afghanistan, 552 have been detected in Kabul, 441 in Herat, 254 in Kandahar, 128 in Balkh, 74 in Paktia, 52 in Nimroz, 46 in Nangarhar, 42 in Ghazni, 34 in Takhar.
At least 33 cases have been found in Laghman, 31 in Kunduz, 29 in Logar, 24 in Helmand, 22 in Baghlan, 21 in Kunar, 16 in Samangan, 15 in Panjsher, 12 each in Paktika and Farah, 10 each in Ghor, Badghis, Jawzjan and Kapisa, nine in Daikundi, eight each in Zabul and Faryab and seven each in Bamyan and Maidan Wardak.
Six cases have been reported each in Khost, Sar-i-Pul, four in Parwan, three in Uruzgan and two in Badakhshan.
