The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Sunday begun the inspection of the 300,000 controversial votes of presidential elections as Abullah Abdullah-led Stability and Convergence team criticized electoral bodies for their inability to maintain impartiality.

The audit suspended last Thursday after observers from Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) had boycotted the process.

Officials from both the electoral bodies on Sunday negotiated the way forward and decided to re-launch the audit process. IEC on Sunday announced ballots inspection in some provinces including Sar-e-Pul, Khandahar, Kabul, Ghazni and Helmand had been already completed.

However, the team led by incumbent Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah says the vote audit has been carried out in those provinces without the presence of their representatives and the ticket cannot accept the results of the process.

Fazal Ahmad Manawi, a member of the ticket, warned if the process continues in the current manner, their team will withdraw from election process, stressing that they will use any resources at their disposal.

He accused IEC of trying in a cahoots with a specific electoral team to announce a fraud-marred result of the elections.

The IEC chief Hawa Alam Nooristan however denied the claim, saying the commission has not violated any law and all its decisions are based on the laws.

She says if any electoral ticket boycotts the audit, IEC will continue the process in their absence.

Afghanistan held presidential election on September 28 last year, but the final outcome has not be announced so far.
