With new modern Radar, Afghans get full control of their airspace: Habibi

The director of the Independent Civil Aviation Authority of Afghanistan Mahmood Shah Habibi says the airspace of Afghanistan will be fully controlled by Afghans after the inauguration of the new modern Radar system.
Speaking at a press conference in Kabul on Saturday, Habibi said the control of the airspace of Afghanistan was fully handed over to the Afghans after almost 35 years.
Habibi further added that 100 Afghans have been trained to control the new radar system.
He said the inauguration and activation of the new radar system will increase the flights in Afghanistan’s airspace besides helping with the flights’ safety and increasing the domestic revenue.
“Now, any aircraft enters Afghanistan’s airspace will appear on the screen of the radar. Activation of the new system will tangibly increase Afghanistan’s air traffic capacity,” Habibi said. According to him, the revenue of the Civil Aviation Authority reached to 6 billion Afghanis last year and efforts will be put in place to further increase the revenues of the government from the aviation sector. The new radar system was inaugurated on Thursday during a ceremony attended by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and other high level government and security officials.
