Authorities in Paktika Province have launched multiple development projects valued at $6 million in Sharan city. Implemented in coordination with the municipality, housing, and urban development departments, these projects focus on enhancing infrastructure and urban services.
During the inauguration ceremony, Paktika Deputy Governor Maulvi Makhdoom Abdulsalam Saadat expressed optimism about the new development plan, stating, “This is a moment of joy and gratitude as we begin implementing a comprehensive development and reform plan for Sharana, which will lay the groundwork for standardized urban expansion.”
The plan includes the construction of numerous markets, primary and secondary roads, mosques, and other urban amenities. Maulvi Sardar Wali Sabit, the mayor of Sharana, detailed that the first road under the project spans 759 meters in length and 18 meters in width, connecting the Katawaz and Ghazni highways. Along this route, 45 markets and a mosque will be constructed by the private sector.
A second road, measuring 951 meters in length and 15 meters in width, will also connect the Katawaz and Ghazni highways, featuring 45 additional markets and mosques. Officials assured residents that more fundamental and developmental projects will commence in the city in the upcoming fiscal year, 1404 Solar Hijri (SH), corresponding to 2025–2026, aiming to accelerate progress and modernization.
The comprehensive plan includes 216 markets, 8 secondary roads, mosques, public restrooms, water reservoirs, a standardized canalization system, and other essential urban facilities. Work has already begun on two roads and the markets along their routes.
