2,000 Inmates in Skill Training, Says Prisons Administration

The Prisons Administration said around 2,000 inmates in the country’s prisons are engaged in learning professional skills.

The head of this administration, Mohammad Yousuf Mestari, said that in addition to professional training, opportunities for learning modern sciences and religious studies are also provided for prisoners.

According to Mestari, efforts are underway to create more facilities for specialized training for prisoners.

The head of the Prisons Administration said: “Currently, about 2,000 inmates in the country’s prisons are engaged in professional training, and we aim for prisoners to learn a specialized skill during their sentence so they can return to society as reformed individuals after release.”

Mestari also called on international organizations to cooperate in providing education for prisoners.

According to information from the Prisons Administration, there are currently close to 11,000 prisoners, including women, in the country’s prisons.
