Two-day handicrafts exhibition opens in Kandahar

A two-day exhibition of handicrafts products was opened in the capital of southern Kandahar province on Saturday.

The expo opened in a private saloon in Kandahar city attended by dozens of men and women industrialists who showcased their handicrafts and products to the visitors and customers.

Acting Kandahar governor, Abdul Hanan Munib, during the opening of the exhibition, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the display was opened by the Ministry of Commerce and Industries and it was attended by industrialists, traders, ordinary people and diplomats from the consulates of neighbor countries.

He said that such programs help find markets for domestic products and introduce them to people.

The local administration worked for exploring markets for domestic products and provide different facilities for industrialists, he said.

Munib added that a four-member presidential delegation recently traveled to Kandahar in order to sign MoUs in economic, industrial and cultural areas between provinces.

Haji Rahimuddin Agha, head of National Entrepreneurs Society in Kandahar, said that many people were unaware what are being produced in their provinces. He said that such exhibitions help inform people about newly produced items in their areas.

However, he suggested that such programs should be jointly held between provinces so it would have a widespread impact on people’s awareness about products.

A visitor of the exhibition, Dr. Naibi said that such exhibitions should be increased and spread to other provinces including capital Kabul so both domestic and foreign traders visit them and find markets for them.
