120 New Cases of COVID-19, 11 Deaths Reported in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Public Health on Thursday reported 120 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 1,230 samples tested in the last 24 hours.    

The Public Health Ministry also reported 11 deaths and 116 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period.

The new cases were reported in Kabul (4), Herat (43), Kandahar (1), Balkh (1), Nangarhar (11), Takhar (27), Baghlan (2), Parwan (1), Nimroz (1), Daikundi (1), Kunar (4), Laghman (3), Farah (16), Zabul (3), Samangan (1) and Sar-e-Pul (1) provinces.

The deaths were reported in Kabul (1), Herat (2), Balkh (2), Kunduz (2), Laghman (1) and Kunar 93) provinces, according to data provided by the Ministry of Public Health.

The Health Ministry reports the cumulative total cases at 52,706, the total number of reported deaths at 2,222, and the total number of recoveries at 42,291.

So far, 202,833 samples have been tested in government centers and there are 7,511 known active COVID-19 cases in the country, data by the ministry indicates.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 1,827,796 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 83,963,941, according to Johns Hopkins University.
