1 US service member killed in Afghanistan

: One U.S. service member assigned to the NATO Resolute Support Mission (RSM) was killed in Afghanistan on Thursday, the RSM said.

“We mourn and honor the sacrifice of our service member,” said Resolute Support and United States Forces – Afghanistan Commanding General Scott Miller. “We remain committed.”

The source said that the incident was under investigation. However, the statement did not provide information about the identity of the soldier and location the incident took place.

“In accordance with U.S. Department of Defense policy, the name of the service member killed in action is being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete,” the source said. “ We will share additional information as appropriate,”
