Construction has begun on a large-scale commercial and residential township in Kunduz province, funded by a 1.5 billion Afghani investment from the state-owned Spin Zar Company. The project will be developed on 35 acres of land.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mawlavi Abdul Ghafoor Shahidzai, head of Spin Zar Company, said the township is expected to be completed within two years. It will include eight six-story shopping complexes, 1,500 retail units, fuel stations, and other facilities.

Kunduz Deputy Governor Mawlavi Habib-ur-Rahman Sahib reaffirmed the government’s commitment to urban development, emphasizing its focus on infrastructure projects.

The initiative follows a recent decree issued by Amir-al-Mu’minin, the Supreme Leader, allocating 10,000 acres of land in the Abdan Desert for industrial parks.
