In Afghanistan, agriculture is a fundamental part of many people’s lives. Despite this, our farmers face numerous challenges. A significant issue in the agricultural sector is the lack of awareness and education, which many Afghan farmers struggle with. Most farmers in Afghanistan are illiterate and lack access to information. This situation prevents them from utilizing new techniques and advanced methods.

Over the past twenty years, the government has not done much in the agricultural sector, leaving farmers in their current state. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that have provided assistance in this area have also faced significant challenges due to security issues and administrative corruption, rendering many efforts ineffective.

Consequently, farmers continue to rely on traditional methods, which not only result in low agricultural yields but also damage soil and water resources. Now that the security situation in Afghanistan has improved, it is essential for the government and NGOs to pay special attention to this sector.

The government should launch awareness programs in the agricultural sector and provide practical training to farmers. These programs should include comprehensive information on new techniques and advanced methods, enabling farmers to increase their yields and improve their families’ economic conditions.

Farmers need training in various areas such as proper water management, soil fertility techniques, pest and disease control, and planting new seeds and crops. With these techniques and information, farmers can significantly increase their yields and improve the fertility of their land.

Awareness programs should be delivered in local languages and in a simple manner so that farmers can easily understand and implement them. Additionally, the government and NGOs should provide technical and financial assistance to farmers, allowing them to purchase new techniques and equipment and implement them on their land. Special attention must also be given to female farmers.

In many villages, women play a significant role in agriculture, but they are also deprived of education and awareness. Special programs should be designed for female farmers so they can benefit from new techniques and increase their production. To advance agriculture, scientific research and experiments must also be conducted.

Universities and research centers should explore new and advanced methods in agriculture and present them to farmers. This will not only raise farmers’ awareness but also improve the quality of agricultural products. Marketing programs should also be initiated so that farmers can sell their products at fair prices and increase their economic benefits.

In conclusion, raising awareness among Afghan farmers can not only improve their lives but also contribute to the overall economic development and prosperity of the country. All stakeholders should recognize their responsibilities in this regard and work together to guide our farmers toward a brighter future. The government, NGOs, and local leaders must unite their efforts to promote farmer awareness.

This will not only boost our agricultural sector but also enhance the overall economic situation of Afghanistan and improve the lives of farmers.
