Kabul considers emulating Beijing’s model of poverty reduction and boosting bilateral cooperation with the regional power, Afghanistan’s ambassador to China says.

In an interview with Xinhuanet, Janan Mosazai acknowledged China’s experience and success in poverty alleviation. He hoped to see a huge surge in bilateral cooperation during the current year.

“Afghanistan salutes and feels happy about China’s achievement in lifting hundreds of millions of its citizens out of poverty over the past 40 years,” he said, calling it a contribution to global poverty alleviation.

While describing poverty elimination an important priority for the Afghan government, he expected assistance from the Chinese government and people in this regard.

The diplomat recalled the launch of the cargo service train linking China’s Jiangsu province and northern the Hairatan port in Afghanistan. The link would facilitate the transportation of Afghan products to China, he believed.
