Trump against American values

President Donald Trump’s executive order banning citizens of seven Muslim countries from entering the United States is against the values used as slogans by America to rule the world. The United States, which characterizes and touts itself as a promoter and a model of religious freedoms and democracy and a key to solving problems of 21st century, has now blocked entry of people from seven nations to its soil solely on account of religious belief. Most of them are the very nations “burning in the fire” enflamed by the interference of this so-called advocate and promoter of democracy and human rights, as well as its imposition of own values on them. Among these countries are Iraq and Syria that are currently wrestling with wars waged and fueled by the United States, prompting their citizens to flee their countries for safety, and turn to live an extremely bitter and horrible life as refugees.

In addition to his ban on citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen, Trump has also tightened visa requirements for Afghans and Pakistanis. Although obtaining US visa by Afghan people has been not very easy for so long, imposing new restrictions on them largely affect people who have risked their lives to support the United States through serving American agencies in Afghanistan.

Whatever actions and steps the new US president is taking under the pretext of making America more secure indeed instigate anti-American hatred and sentiments. The ban on Muslims will actually face the United States with new headaches other than secure it.

More surprisingly, American troops and contractors are travelling to Muslim countries like Afghanistan without a visa, and they are doing whatever they wish to do there, but those fleeing the conflicts fueled by Americans don’t reserve the right to enter the US. If Trump really wants to solve the refugee problem and secure his country, he should put an end to American interference in other countries. That is the only approach that can tackle the immigration problem not only in the United States, but also in the entire world. The time has come for the America to review its policy of unilaterally ruling and holing sway over the world, and let nations shape their future themselves. That way they won’t be forced to leave their countries, and immigrate to America.
