The European Union in Afghanistan will provide technical and financial support to Afghanistan to improve the country’s trade and exports to world markets.

DAB to assess plan for plastic banknotes

Officials from the Central Bank or Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) on Monday said that the bank is assessing a plan to print plastic banknotes for the country.

Statistics show that annually banknotes to the value of over 3.3 billion Afs are aging and become out of use over time.

Afghan exports up by 27% in 2017

Afghanistan's exports rose by 21 percent to $723 million in 2017, according to official data.

Afghanistan and Uzbekistan will start transiting goods across the border in the near future, officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industries said, adding that delegations from the two countries are working to make this happen.

Thermal power plant activated in Kabul

Officials at the Tarakhil thermal power plant said that 250 megawatts of electricity will be added to the Kabul electricity grid daily.  

According to the officials by providing more fuel to this power plant, its power generation capacity will be doubled.

Businessmen have said that along with the lack of security, the absence of a clear strategy to attract investment is also to blame for the economic recession in Afghanistan.
