A car bomb explosion occurred in the city of Ghazni on Saturday evening, targeting a unit of the public protection forces, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement.
The explosion was followed by an attempt to storm the compound, but all attackers were killed before entering, said the Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Arian.
He said the explosion happened in Kotal-e-Rawza area in the city of Ghazni at around 7:45 pm.
Ghazni governor’s spokesman Wahidullah Jumazada said casualties are feared from the attack.
This comes amid efforts by the Afghan government to complete the release of Taliban prisoners and start the intra-Afghan negotiations.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
