The Presidential Palace and former president Hamid Karzai have hit out at recent comments from US presidential candidate Joe Biden about Afghanistan.
Taking part in a debate on Saturday, the former US vice-president current Democratic presidential candidate said the unity of Afghanistan was impossible.
He said: “About Afghanistan, I have to say that totally against the nation-building in Afghanistan and the only thing we should be doing is dealing with terrorism in the region.”
Former President Hamid Karzai in statement criticize Biden for his remark, saying US has never sought nation building in Afghanis.
“It is obvious the US never sought nation-building in Afghanistan and enough evidence exists that the US during its stay in Afghanistan tried a lot for divisions and discrimination.”
He added the Afghan people would not allow the US to achieve its goal of dominating the region by questioning the power and unity of the Afghan nation.
Deputy Presidential spokeswoman Durrani Waziri said: “We have fought against the enemies of Afghanistan as a united nation. The people of Afghanistan are with each other through everything.”
Senior Presidential Advisor Waheed Omar, in a tweet, thanked the US for its cooperation with Afghanistan. “We have been a nation for centuries.”
